Kangaroos 101
1. Kangaroos Love to Hop!
Their big, strong legs help them jump really far. Some kangaroos can jump as long as a school bus!
2. Kangaroos Have a Comfy Pouch!
Mom kangaroos have a special pocket on their tummy called a pouch. That’s where joeys stay safe and warm while they grow.
3. Baby Kangaroos Are Called Joeys!
A baby kangaroo is called a joey. When a joey is born, it’s about the size of a jellybean! It stays in its mama’s pouch to grow big and strong.
4. They are Native to Australia!
Kangaroos are like deer in their native continent called Australia. That’s where they hop around in big open spaces called the outback.
5. They Like to Be with Friends!
Kangaroos don’t like to be alone. They live in groups called a mob. A mob of kangaroos hops, plays, and eats together—just like a big family!
